Lower Limb Gait Biomechanics and Assessment

Ben McChesney

This workshop will initially outline the biomechanics of the lower limb relative to gait. This will include an explanation of how the forces of gravity and ground reaction interact to produce joint and muscle reactions from initial contact through to propulsion. Assessment methods with then be demonstrated that can simplify the process of observing these reactions at each phase of the gait cycle in your individual patients. The evidence informed discussion of gait assessment will aim to inform clinical practice, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries.
